Equipment & Resources
Dual Beam Fishfinders

Dual beam fishfinders typically use 200 and 83 kHz frequencies. This creates a narrowly focused 20 degree center beam surrounded by another beam of 60 degrees. Coverage expands in an area equal to the depth; for instance, in 20 feet of water, the wider beam will cover an area 20 feet in diameter. Dual beam fishfinders provide some advantages in locating and detecting fish as the two frequencies can be blended together in one image, viewed as separate images, or both compared side-by-side. They performs well under a range of conditions, from shallows to very deep water, and in both salt and fresh water environments.
