I fish out of Atlantic Highlands quite a bit and my favorite
party boat The Atlantic Star opened up the season yesterday
I checked on line for the Captains report and it turns out
that they caught no stripers on the entire day.
I was going to drive up there and go out for their opener
and now I am glad I didn't. They are a great boat to go out
on and are usually put plenty of fish in the boat.
The fishing is still very spotty at this point but we are almost
there. It is just about to blow open.

What areas does the Atlantic Star fish primerally fish Question

They fish the Raritan Bay most of the time and go out front
once in a while. Stripers now and then fluke all summer.
Great boat and crew and Captain Tom is a great guy.
Very friendly folks and a good mix of die hards and beginners.
Good boat for a family outing or an old salt.
I like to fish the bay up there because you don't have to
get beat up when it's rough like you do out front and there
are a lot of fish to be caught.

I'm sorry to say that I have to find another good party boat, because Captain John out of Keyport passed away in January and his boat is up for sale.
The captain, crew & boat are surely going to be missed.

Give the Atlantic Star a shot I think you'll be happy.
If you like let me know and I'll meet you up there.

Sounds like a plan. What day of the week do you normally go?

Posted Sun Apr 16, 2017 8:13 am

I always try to go during the week because it's just not
as crowded as the weekends but if you are still working
I don't mind going on a weekend.

I prefer during the week too. As soon as I'm done with my physical theraphy and the doc says my legs are strong enough I'll reach out to you.

Sounds like a plan brother

Fished aboard the Atlantic Star yesterday out of
Atlantic Highlands. The fishing was pretty slow but
I did catch a pretty big Bluefish and a big skate.
It's not much but I'll take it for my first trip this season.
Now I can't wait to get back out there.
