Bay Head Harbor Description

Bay Head is a Borough in Ocean County, New Jersey, United States. As of the United States 2000 Census, the borough population was 1,238. Bay Head is situated on the Barnegat Peninsula, a long, narrow barrier peninsula that separates Barnegat Bay from the Atlantic Ocean. Together with Mantoloking to south, Bay Head is considered part of the Jersey Shore's "Gold Coast". The main roadway through Bay Head is Route 35, a two-lane highway that connects many of the Jersey Shore's small communities. Today, swimming, surfing, fishing, and the general enjoyment of the natural, uncrowded, lifeguarded beaches make Bay Head a favorite for those who like a quiet time. A small daily beach entrance fee is required during summer months. To stay in Bay Head is a delight. Your choice might either be an elegant yet friendly full service Victorian hotel or any one of the delightful and comfortable bed and breakfast inns. For those wishing an extended family stay, many of the fine residential homes (some with historic or distinctive architecture) are available for rent through any of the area Realtors. Dining in Bay Head can be a fun experience. The restaurants and food services range from gourmet take-out to award-winning cuisine, all in a generally casual atmosphere. Perhaps the most fun of all is sitting at the outdoor corner cafe and watching the world go by.
