Support the Consumer Protection and Fuel Transparency Act!
Recently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) formally approved the year-round sale of fuel containing 15 percent ethanol, or E15.
E15 can corrode small engines, such as those found in lawn mowers, outdoor power tools, and most importantly for anglers, boats. Using these fuels puts consumers at risk of injury, voids the warranties of these products, and is against federal law. Most consumers are unaware that all fuels available at the pump are not safe for their property and can be dangerous to people.
The bipartisan Consumer Protection and Fuel Transparency Act (H.R. 1024) would require straightforward labeling at the fuel pumps containing E15 and an education campaign to inform consumers on fuels with higher blends of ethanol.
