Keep America Fishing

Menhaden, often described as “the oily little fish nobody eats,” are considered by many to be the most important fish in the sea.
Also known as bunkers, they are a key food source for the sportfish species you fish for like striped bass, bluefish, weakfish, king mackerel, and cobia.

Increasing their abundance will help ensure these popular sportfish have enough food to keep these fisheries abundant and healthy. And that means better fishing.

Tell the ASMFC that you support healthy oceans and abundant fisheries.

The Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) is considering updates to the menhaden fishery management plan that will leave more fish in the water, ensure healthy sport fisheries, and improve fishing all along the Atlantic coast.

Send a message to the ASMFC today and tell them increase protections for this critically important fish.
