We had a Bluefin tuna trip scheduled for this date With Jack, , Mark , John C , John S and nephew Jason. With the early canyon bite this year we converted from a mud hole trip to a canyon troll trip. We left at midnight and took the 14 knot ride to the edge where we had been told of a bite the previous day . We arrived at first light when we got there we found 61 degree water, green and dirty . It was obvious what direction the water moved and we went for 15 miles until we found the edge then another 4 miles until we put lines in. With the cloud cover we didn’t have a fresh temp shot. We fished for 2 hours without a bite then when we found the clean edge we started getting a few skippy bites. Not much chatter on the radio. At 10 Am we got our first yellowfin bite , a 35 lb fish. It seemed the bite started for most at 10 am. We stayed with it for the next 4 hours we had 12 solid hook ups dropping 4 of them and landing 8 average weight 40 lbs one was a smaller 33” fish. We had some hot bites a lot of fish up in the spread missing the lures. The bites came in 67 to 69 degree water. We pulled everything in at 2 pm and headed home reaching the dock at 6 PM. There is some great yellowfin fishing. Most of our bites came on our Joe Shutes purple and black and blue and white and Lacerations “Snack” with natural ripple head with blue and white hair and the Lacerations green daisy chain.

OH YEA I almost forgot Jason got his first Tuna this trip and earned his Viking Helmet
